FOOOOOL'S GOLD

A few weeks ago, Jim brought home some dirt from the mountains. I think he said it was dirt from a funnel. ???

So....
Riley and Jim 'panned' away.

All they found was 'FOOL'S GOLD'.

Why put it in all caps you ask?

Well, because Jim must have yelled 'FOOL'S GOLD' so many times Andrea's and my ears rang for days!!!

Got COONS??

This morning, after taking Riley and Jack to seminary, I was greeted by a raccoon on my front porch.

Ya. Seriously. It was early, so at first I thought it was a cat. We have an annoying gray cat that hangs out on the porch. But as I looked closer I thought, "hmmm. last I remember, that gray cat didn't have a mask on." That's when I asked Andrea if she thought it was a raccoon staring me down.

We tried to get a picture-- but I had turned the flash off on my camera. Bummer. Then the coon ran off.

It ran off to the backyard. And 'it' was THEY! Two coons!

Oh my word, Ella went nuts. She ran those coons right up a tree. Just like lil Ann and old Dan. She's still got those coons in a tree.

Its been nearly 12 hours. They are still in the tree.

POST UPDATE: The two little coons left just after dusk. I don't know where they went... but we're glad their gone. Poor Ella needs some sleep!! :)

TrES LechES = DelishES

Back in August I hosted a little Fiesta. Remember??

Well, it was pretty fun and very delicious. A few years back I had my first experience tasting an incredible cake.... Tres Leches!! Oh my! It is delicious. My mother would probably faint if she knew that I fell in love with this cake-- I used to hassle her all the time for loving 'bread and milk' or for pouring milk on her cake. It always looked so gross!!

Anyway, tres leches is incredibly moist. It is the bomb.

Since the time I had it, I've looked for a recipe. It's crazy-- because I have never been able to find a tried and true recipe. Most people just buy it from the local market (one that carries Mexican foods.)

Well, one day a recipe appeared on The Pioneer Woman's blog. (A great blog if you didn't know!) I decided to try out the recipe.

Oh my word. Delish!! So delish I made it for our little fiesta. My friends from Mexico gave it a big thumbs up :)

KILLER a.k.a. noel

I came home today and saw our killer jump 3 feet into our morning glory, which climbs the fence. During the past week or so, I have noticed Ella and Noel (Killer) watching the fence on many occasions. I thought that maybe a bird was nearby. No way. Not a bird. Noel, now known as Killer, jumped and caught A RAT in her teeth. I know it was her teeth, because Noel doesn't have front claws!!

(She was a crazy kitten and was about to tear my sofas and my children to shreds-- so she was declawed. We had wanted her to be a 'house cat', but this little killer begged to go outdoors!)

Anyway-- She sure has fun playing with her dinner :)

Personally, I love that this world is down one rat. I will sleep better tonight.

Ah yes.... The 3 Musketeers- Kevin, Trevor, and Keith. I honestly have no idea why Kevin and Keith felt the need to share their belly buttons. Boys can be strange. Oh yes-- I think they have tattoos on their belly buttons. Still strange.

Kevin, Jacquie, and Marissa. You might find it interesting to know that when I was pregnant with Riley, Kevin prayed every day that he would get a brother. He told me one day, "Mom, I just can't take another sister."

Happy Birthday Kevin. You have been the best firstborn a mom could ever ask for :) It is an honor and a pleasure to be your mom.

I'm just excited that BYU FOOTBALL has begun! We are huge fans. I'm so excited that my three oldest get to go to the games. Yes, I'm jealous too. I love going to BYU games. They are so fun!

Anyway-- Cosmo, the BYU mascot, is the bomb. The girls missed taking a picture with the current Cosmo, so the retired Cosmo will have to do.
