Forget Not....

Last night Jacquie and I had the great opportunity to listen to the General Relief Society Broadcast. We are fortunate to have the BYU channel at home so we taped it then watched it together-- with 2 great big bowls of popcorn!  It was great.  Marissa was lucky enough to go and listen to it live in the Conference Center in Salt Lake.

Pres. Uchtdorf's message about not forgetting and forget-me-nots was wonderful and inspiring. I look forward to reading it over and over. His counsel to forget not these five things is inspired.  I appreciate and will try to remember these things on a daily basis.  I'm pretty sure I'll be printing this beautiful message and posting it on my refridgerator.

He is a wonderful speaker and has quickly become one of my favorites. His talk in March-- 'Your Happily Ever After' is also one of my favorites.  I can hardly wait for General Conference next week!!  Thank you Pres. Uchtdorf for writing your talk just for me :)

Quite the Number

Marissa is having some problems in college. She recently did "quite a number" on her left ankle (at least that's what the doctor said!) She has a low and high ankle sprain-- who knew you could do both!!

Marissa has had sankles-- sad-ankles-- for quite some time. She had surgery on the right one during high school. It was a success!! I'm beginning to think the left one needs the same.

I'm so sad I don't live closer-- but Kevin has taken good care of her. Get better soon Rissa!!!

Happy Birthday Kevin!

 Saturday, September 10th marked Kevin's 22nd birthday!!

Today his sweet sister, Marissa, cooked him dinner and made him a birthday cake.  I heard that she remembered to get candles, but didn't own a match!! So lighting them proved to be rather difficult :)
In my little world in Bakersfield, the wee hours of September 10th this year reminded me of the day Kevin was born.  I started having contractions when we went to bed on the 9th. I was so uncomfortable that I moved out to the couch and watched TV all night long. I tried to sleep but those dang contractions kept coming!! In the morning we decided to head to the hospital. Kevin was already 10 days late!! He still took his sweet time coming and wasn't born until late afternoon on the 10th.  Despite a few complications he was very healthy and huge-- all 8 pounds and 10 1/2 ounces!
We were and still are thrilled to have him in our family.  His dad and I LOVED having him home with us this summer. He has always been a very helpful son. He has always been a very loud son too--- but we love all the noise that comes with him :)

Happy Birthday Kevin!
We love you!!

P.S. thanks Marissa for being such a great sister too!!

Crazy Weather

We've had some crazy weather! Thunder, lightning, and rain oh my!! Bakersfield is usually filled with sunshine-- just about everyday. So crazy weather always surprises us. It has been quite the lightning show.

Tennis!!

Andrea made the JV Tennis team!! She is loving it! Go G-Hawks!

T Swift!

On Friday when I came home from work Jim and I made a crazy decision... We went online and found a couple of nosebleed nice seats at the Taylor Swift Concert in LA.  Many months back Jim and Andrea took a little trip to Yosemite. They listened to Taylor Swift's cd the whole time-- so they Jim has been talking about it for months.  We decided that it would be great fun to go so we snatched bought the tickets, invited Morgan, and off we left on Saturday afternoon.  Above you see the girls, Andrea and Morgan just before we headed into the home of the LA Lakers Staples Center!
Not the best picture of Taylor, but Jim and Andrea look great and are super excited!!
Of course you have to get the t-shirts!! :)
These girls were rocking the party!  Taylor gave a great concert. She sang for 2 1/2 hours!! It was a great show.
Oh yes, Jim bought us each an ice cream cone! :)  They were so good!
One more picture of these adorable ladies! It seems like only yesterday they were in preschool together!! Now they're in high school!! (not together unfortunately....)

Thanks Jim for a great trip (even though we ended up on the wrong side of the freeway once... boy was that an eye-opener!) we girls had a great time!
