Happy Birthday Jim!

Today Jim turned 45!!

Although I don't have his pictures from his recent trip.... I thought this would be okay as a substitute! He, Kevin, and his brother Mike just returned from climbing Mt. Williamson. That particular mountain had previously beaten them, but this time they made it to the top :) Hooray!! I think it was a pretty great birthday gift.

Happy Birthday Jim!

We love you :)

My Amazing Bakers

While we were in Utah during Spring Break, Andrea spent a few days staying with Marissa at her apartment. They had a great time together and here is the result of their great ideas and work!! We were so lucky to be able to view and eat this incredible cake.

Here they are..... many hours of work went into this baby!

The first slice! (Thanks Aunt Carla for being willing to slice it ~ since I was too scared busy taking pictures!)

This is a red velvet and white cake with buttercream frosting. All those circles are actually roses! Hundreds of them!

Isn't it pretty?? Marissa pointed out that it actually has great symbolism for Easter with the red and white colors. I for one was very impressed!! It was delicious too! Everyone loved it!

Maybe they should open a bakery?

Chickens

Our babies are getting bigger and sprouting some feathers!! We laugh when they hang their heads outside of the cage. Silly chickens. Hawk is closest, Eggzilla is near the corner.
They are rather camera shy. When the camera is in their cage they all run to the corner and then fight over who can get the furthest in. They also fight over poop, but will try to forget that! Nice bum shot Goldilocks!

Here are some brave souls: Hawk & Tiger up front, Goldilocks is checking out the camera from behind them.

Here are the lighter chicks.... Red is up front. Tiger is to the left and Goldilocks is in the back.

Aren't Red's feathers cute?? Her legs are starting to turn green too. That means she'll probably lay green eggs!!

I'll be sad to see my chickens leave. I don't know why, but I have always thought it would be cool to have chickens. Except for the chicken poop that is.

1st Day of Spring Break

We started our Spring Vacation off right this year!! A long afternoon at the lake! Here are Chloe and Max on the tube with their favorite babysitter- Andrea!

Max took his turn behind the wheel!

Riley, Jack, and Conner had a blast on the tube.

Whoa!! Hold on!!

Nice pyramid!

Here's Jacquie wake-boarding away....

Too bad we didn't get pictures of her helicopters or super fancy grabs.

A little air for the boys.

A nice scenic ride for the girls!

A little bit of air for Riley-dog!

It was such a nice day! Not too hot, awesome smooth water, and only two more boats on the entire lake!! I don't think I've ever seen Buena Vista in such optimal conditions. Thanks for going with us Conner & Hardings!!

State testing and CHICKS??

We've been incubating eggs in my classroom. It takes 21 days of incubation for fertile eggs to hatch. This is our 2nd attempt. The first eggs that were shipped to us were not fertile :( This, of course, made us very sad. However, I cautioned my students not to get attached to eggs. Lucky for us good friend is a chicken farmer! She hand delivered us 6 eggs: four brown eggs, one white egg, and one green egg!

My class has also been preparing for state testing which started on Tuesday. The chicks were due on Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. Of course, our first chick arrived early on Tuesday morning!! He popped out of his egg just after the students arrived in the classroom!! He is mostly black and flopped and clomped all over the other eggs. We lovingly named him Eggzilla!

Here is number two breaking out of the shell. This one is the lightest of them all. We named 'her' Goldilocks.
Here is a close-up of Eggzilla! He had to wait until late afternoon for any of his siblings to arrive. He didn't like being away from his eggs/siblings!

By the next morning we had 5 adorable chicks! Up front is little Red. ('She' is slightly red and will forever be my favorite little Red hen! Even if 'she' is a rooster!)
Here is Red coming to get the camera!!

A Surprisingly Awesome Birthday!

I had no idea that my 43rd birthday would be awesome. I actually had no expectations whatsoever. I think that might be the perfect way to approach every birthday! My day started out with a surprise of these 2 dozen beautiful roses! Jim and the kids started my day off right!! Then I arrived at school to find this beautiful bouquet on my classroom white board!!! My class had surprised me (I was lucky to have a very special substitute the day before my birthday that made this special gift possible!! Thanks Renee!) Although the picture doesn't show it... each student wrote me a special birthday note on each flower!! I am so blessed to have a wonderful class. I also received many gifts from many students... lots of jelly bellies too! Then, at lunch, my awesome colleagues made all the parts and we had Cafe Rio sweet pork salads!! My dear friend, Gail, made me this incredible German Chocolate Cake!! It was SO good! Best lunch ever!! My college kids spoiled me too. Marissa and Jacquie sent me a Willow Tree-- the one in the middle. It is titled 'Close to Me.' Seriously... they about made me cry with that one. Kevin made my day by getting me a new SPAT!! I didn't get a picture of it, but we've used it already and it is awesome!! Riley and Andrea got me a new case for my iphone... totally the one I wanted :) Jim, of course, helped with those gifts and let me go on a weekend shopping trip with friends!! I got some super cute new things!! I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and the best children EVER!
I also went to dinner with these cuties! I should have snapped a photo of Jim and I too!! Jim even gave up going to a basketball game to take me to dinner on my birthday! Chips & Salsa at Chili's were the perfect way to end my incredible birthday. Thank you to EVERYONE!! I have so much to be thankful for and am grateful for my friends and family.

A little belated birthday!

This cutie just had a birthday! Shoes! What more could a 14 year old girl want? (or a 24 or 34 or 44 girl)
Yep. Even more shoes!!
She got lots of cute clothes as well :)
Dinner and a movie with good friends too!
We, the other 6 Wagdogz, are so happy to have this cute girl in our family. She is a joy to be around. Seriously. This girl makes us all laugh SO much! She's smart and beautiful too.

Watch outs boys of Bakersfield.... she'll be at the next Stake Dance!! (Good thing Riley will be there to keep an eye out!)

Happy Birthday Andrea!

We love YoU!
