Another Adventure

This is their destination.

Mike and Jim are at it again. Climbing some crazy high mountain peak. They left Sunday night, slept in the car. Got up super early Monday morning and started out.  Not much snow.

Mount Langley! 14,026 feet

It will be a short trip. They should be back late Tuesday night or on Wednesday.  Avalanche danger is low (or they wouldn't be going, right?)  Last night as they were leaving we officially changed Mike's name to Mike 'stare death in the eye SAFELY' Wagner!

Be safe boys. We would like to see you again.

Riley's Future

Thank goodness for YouTube.

Without it, I don't think Riley would have ever decided what he wants to be when he grows up.  As a young child, if you asked Riley what he wanted to be he would simply reply, "Rich. Rich, rich, RICH!"

As he's grown, he's thought about a lot of different options. Baseball pitcher (he is left-handed in sports, so that was a plus), a doctor, an engineer, an orthodontist.... and the list went on.

It went on until he saw this.

This narrowed the choices to two.

Rocket Science?
or
Brain Surgery?

Seeing as how rocket science isn't as secure during recent times...  Brain Surgery it is!!

So, friends and family, don't say I didn't warn you. He is planning on having many experiences at gatherings like the one portrayed on YouTube.  It's okay. I've already realized that I'm only a teacher, which is not exactly brain surgery.... now is it??

NO!!!! not me please!

Not the best week for me.

The sore throat started on Thursday.  Friday was more of the sore throat and sinus pain. Some serious sinus pain. Diet Coke couldn't even touch the headache.  I knew it wasn't looking good. I quickly made an appointment with the doctor.

Sinus infection. check.
Bronchitis. check.
very congested ears. check.
prescription for a z-pac. check
prescription for nasty cough syrup. check.

Luckily the doctor's office was quick. Got Riley to his soccer game. Headed to Target to pick up my meds.... along with a few other things I found. Shopping always makes you feel a little better.

Made it to Riley's soccer game. He played AWESOME. It was worth sitting in the cold, sucking on cough drops.  Didn't make it to the dinner party with the Bishopric.  Sorry Bishop!! I had to send Jim on his own.

Headed to bed.

Z-pac is working.
Took a little longer than I'd like.
Cough syrup also working.  Thank you Target for the syringe so that I can just squirt that crap syrup down the back of my throat: far, far away from my taste buds.  It does put me right to sleep. Thank you codeine.
Halls!!  Where would I be without you!  These black cherry sugar free numbers are the best.  They rate right up there with Diet Coke.  I didn't make it out of bed yesterday.  I've been out of bed a little today.  This bug did a serious number on me.  I honestly can't remember when I've been this sick!!

Jim has been a good nurse. Brought me an egg mcmuffin yesterday.  Loved it. It was the only thing that sounded good.  Kind of crazy because I rarely eat those.  I woke up in the night once because I literally couldn't breath. I couldn't get any air in!! Scared me right awake it did!!! I was able to cough it out and breath again. Talk about scary. I can totally relate to people dying from that. I was worried for a moment. At first I thought someone was choking me!!!

I've watched enough tv shows and movies to last a lifetime. I'm hoping tomorrow brings even more improvement.  On Friday, when I went to work sick, one of my students even told me, "Mrs. Wagner, you should have stayed home in bed today."  I know they will be great for the substitute tomorrow.

And bug.  Be GONE.  I'm tired of you.

90% DONE!

Our brightly colored room had been outgrown by the girls.  With Marissa and Jacquie off to college, Andrea wanted to make the room all hers.  It was a big job, but we hoped we could someday get it done.  Painting was a HUGE job.  It took some great primer to hide our bright orange, turquoise, hot pink, and lime green walls.  But is was worth it...

Boy those girls had A LOT of stuff!

Slowly the calm, peaceful grey took over the room....

The grey walls turned out great!

We LOVE the vinyl tree branch we picked up from a great groupon deal :)

Jacquie found the perfect mirror at a yard sale in Provo...

It turned out to be just what we needed.  We love the shiny dark grey! Much better than the nasty gold it was previously!

As for that white dresser...

It needed some cheering up too!

Sooooo.......

Wait for it.  Wait for it.

And POW!  Here's the new room....

Here's the mirror and the lovely ombre dresser.  Pretty cute, yes?

And holy. The purple dresser with grey handles turned out awesome.  We are in love with the new decor.  The curtains aren't quite done.... Hopefully I'll get those done on Monday!! Then I'll post pics of the rest of the room.  Andrea worked so hard redecorating.

She did an outstanding job!! Don't you agree??

Best 2012 Purchase

Warm drinks from Starbucks make me happy. Too bad Starbucks is so blasted expensive!! As a teacher I always get gift cards to Starbucks from students.... People still think that teachers always drink coffee. (which is kind of funny because not many of my colleagues drink coffee every day--- iced tea and diet coke is what you usually find in their hands....)

Anyway-- I love me some hot vanilla milk. Soooo good. For about $10 I bought a WHOLE bottle of sugar-free vanilla syrup! And yes, I'm addicted. Andrea loves the cinnamon dolce. It's mighty good too. You can add it to hot milk OR hot apple juice.

I'm saving all sorts of money. :)

And I'm super warm in my tummy!!
