out of high school, jobless, out of luck...

with high school almost over

this girl thought that perhaps she could make it in this great big world just begging at a street corner

a scrap piece of cardboard really got her creative juices flowing

personally, i think college is a better route

there are showers in college-- although i know that some opt not to utilize them

and maybe

per chance
the boys are better looking in college...

unless you go for the bearded type

who like rich women

i guess you have lots of choices.

8th Grade Graduate...

RILEY is an 8th grade graduate!!
Even though Jacquie and Riley tried to make a deal that allowed each of them to miss the other's graduation ceremony (of course I put a stop to that!) here we are all together after the ceremony.

Here's Riley with the mum and the dad.

Riley surrounded by some of his beautiful sisters :)
And, OH snap, look who's taller!!!

Here's Riley and Jack!
I'm pretty sure these two boys are ready for a day at Magic Mountain!!
Congratulations Riley, we are so proud of you.

Big Kahuna!

On Friday, I was able to attend the 8th Grade Award Assembly with Riley. As you can tell, Riley came away with some serious awards!
Riley earned the Foreign Language Award. His teacher said that he hadn't lost a point in 7th grade or 8th grade Spanish!! Because Riley took a full year of Spanish this year and got an A, he will be able to skip Spanish 1 in high school and move straight to Spanish 2. He also earned an honor roll medal and a faculty medal. Five or more faculty members have to vote for you to earn the faculty award. The big trophy was given to Riley as a valedictorian! Riley is leaving Junior High School with a perfect 4.0-- he never even had an A-.
Congratulations Riley! We are very proud of you! We are looking forward to your graduation ceremony on Tuesday night!

Mother-Daughter Tea

Today was the senior tea for the senior girls and their mums. Jacquie was in the fashion show as well. It was a fun afternoon. I had to snap a great picture of Jacquie with one of her great friends, Cyle. Jacquie and Cyle have known each other for a really long time! They have been in school together since kindergarten, but I think they met before that! Cyle's mom and I spent many years working together in the PTC at the elementary school-- so I think they played together before kindergarten! I've got to see if we have any pictures from way back then!!
Kimmy, Jacquie, Sara

I think this picture speaks for itself!

Here is Jacquie. Perhaps she should forget college and go straight to Tyra's school.... America's Next Top Model!!! Of course, this runway walk looks a little like a mannequin!!

hahaha--yes, Jacquie always walks with barbie arms.

Forever this girl's favorite pose:
Touch someone else's nose!
All the models from the fashion show!

Final Choir Concert

Wednesday night was Jacquie's final choir concert. Jacquie has loved choir. Her she is with Sara and the roses the each received.
This year Mr. Medina came to CHS. Usually adapting to a new choir teacher is a difficult change. It usually takes a couple of years for the students to bond....
But not with Mr. Medina! The students have LOVED him and the choir program has soared to new musical heights! Jacquie and Mr. Medina have had a great year and have both enjoyed getting to know each other. I think they have both touched each others' lives for the better.

Here is Jacquie with some fun choir friends!
This particular moment was beautiful. During the school year Mr. Medina had a tragedy. Not only did his family move to Bakersfield and start a new job, they were also expecting a baby. For some unknown reason, the baby died two weeks before her due date. It was a terrible, sad tragedy. The chamber choir made Mr. Medina a recording of 'Let it Be' by the Beatles. They decided to sing it again at this concert. It was beautiful. I know that my eyes weren't dry.
Thank you Mr. Medina for giving my daughter a wonderful final year in choir. She loved every minute of it.

The Soon-To-Be Graduate

Jacquie, Sara, and Tyler
Be ready to view lots of posts about this soon-to-be high school graduate...
There are many events all about her in the near future as we begin the final 2 1/2 weeks of her high school career.
Her is Jacquie with Principal Weddell and one of the high school counselors receiving the CSF award at the recent CHS Academic Honor Banquet. This banquet tradition was started last year by the new CHS principal. I applaud his efforts and think it is great to honor the academic achievements of the students. Academics IS what school is about!!

Congratulations Jacquie!

Sunday Entertainment/ Do a Dare

So, last Sunday while I was blogging, Riley came over with a safety pin in his hand. I'm pretty sure he was trying to figure out a way to get featured on the blog. I said one little safety pin wasn't enough. Then I dared him to do more. I knew he'd rise to the occasion...
This smile just cracks me up.

And... I'm sure someone will turn me in to the authorities.

Ha... don't you remember doing this as a kid? I sure do. Of course, maybe I've got some sick sort of sick entertainment, but I remember thinking this was really cool. Especially because it doesn't even hurt.

Aren't you glad he didn't use the whole jar?
ha ha ha
Such strong feet you have!!
Can you walk on coals too?
Just kidding!!! DON'T TRY IT!
