G-Hawk Soccer

Riley has spent the last few months playing soccer on the JV soccer team. It has been a season of ups and downs. He has one more game to go before the season ends and he moves on to swimming. Thursday's game was a good one... we won 2-0!!

Here's our favorite player... #16.

A good number indeed. Anyone remember Joe Montana?? Yes, #16 as well. This number has served Riley well. As a freshman he started the season with small amounts of playing time. But still as a freshman, he ended the season starting every game and usually playing the whole game! He learned a lot and definitely grew as a soccer player. We are very proud of him :)

Back to 1970

My cousin emailed me these pictures today...

It had been a long time since I had seen these pictures. I'm the cutie on the right and my cousin Sherry is on the left. Sherry was 3 and I was 2-- if the date written on the picture is correct. I'm thinking we look on the older side of those ages.

Aren't we so cute??

This is a great shot.

We both kind of have that 'deer in headlights' look!! Perhaps we had been caught doing something we weren't supposed to be doing. Both of these photos were taken by our Grandma Shaffer at her house. I have some wonderful memories of being at my Grandma's with my cousin Sherry.

Anyway, don't forget to look under the t.v.

Seriously, that is our cousin Randy's lizard/alligator. (Randy lived at Grandma's house) I always thought it was an alligator, but I think it was just an alligator lizard. They have those right?? I was sure that my Grandma probably flushed it down the toilet at some point and that it would try to come back and bite us....
Thanks for taking this little trip down memory lane with me.... Thanks Sherry for sending the cute pictures :)

Cutest picture ever!

My 3rd graders have been reading a story about a seal and a boy. It's a great story called "Seal Surfer." The pictures are beautiful. For a Friday treat I'm going to show my class this adorable picture! I know they will love it. Then we're making mosaics using a picture in the story. I love Fridays :) I don't know who's more excited... the students or me?? :)

Flashback Week

I've decided this week will be filled with old pictures (if you haven't noticed already). I've mostly decided this because I haven't taken any new pictures and I'm not a good enough writer to just write!! (ha!)

So enjoy this step back in time...

Here we have 2006 and Jacquie's graduation from 8th grade. As much as I love our community, 8th grade graduation is a mystery to me. I mean, who doesn't graduate from 8th grade?? Seriously it is a big celebration here. I think it is highly overrated. High school graduation is fun (still not that monumental) but 8th grade? I understand back in the day this was as far as many kids went in school and then helped with the farming. But, times have changed. I will never be a fan of 8th grade graduation and no Andrea, none of my kids will be showered with gifts for graduating from 8th grade. It is expected. (so is high school, so is college... sorry to crash some of your dreams!)

But, not to detract from Jacquie's honor here... She received the big trophy for exiting Junior High with a 4.0. Very nice ;)

Hurricane Harbor!

I don't even remember what year this picture was taken. It was long ago and it was a very fun day. The kids got to bring a friend to Hurricane Harbor. (Sorry Andrea... I guess you either didn't have any friends or we just were mean and didn't let you bring a friend.-- Either way, I'm sure I'll hear about it for the rest of my life.) Anyway, this is a pretty awesome photo...

Kevin is sporting some pretty rad hair and is he kissing to the camera?? Riley is looking a little like he's planning to take over the world. Marissa appears set for a hurricane or earthquake or something!! But no fear, no one will ever knock her down!! The friends are all so polite... just so happy to come along. I love Cole's laid back appearance... "Oh me? I'm just hanging out here. Nothing new." I'm pretty sure Andrea and I think we're going to be on the next cover of Family Fun or something. This is a classic photo....

Any other interpretations???

Yesteryear....

Long, long ago Andrea was a little tyke. A little tyke with long Rapunzel hair!

She had a generous heart and decided to give someone else her long locks via Locks of Love.

This was just one of multiple donations. I think she donated around 23 inches of hair all together!! So, so cute!
